GO GIVES MORE AID TO DISPLACED MEDIA WORKERS
AS the Covid-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the lives of many Filipinos, the Office of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday distributed additional assistance to affected and displaced workers from the media industry currently being catered to by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
More than 400 beneficiaries were provided with meals, masks, face shields and vitamins during the distribution activity held at the DSWD Central Office in Batasan, Quezon City.
The activity was conducted in batches while strictly complying with the necessary health protocols to prevent the possible spread of Covid-19.
He also assured them the poor and vulnerable sectors will be provided access to vaccines in accordance with Covid-19 vaccination prioritization list.
“Do not worry, the vaccines have started to arrive. We are only prioritizing the frontliners. Coming next in the priority list are senior citizens to be followed by indigent and down. Trust your government. The vaccine is the only solution to the crisis we are in now. Without the vaccine, we can hardly go back to our previous way of normal living. Your government is doing everything to help everyone and overcome these challenges. We will not waste this opportunity to serve you,” said Go.
As further support, the senator offered to assist those who are in need of medical attention. He advised them to seek the nearest Malasakit Center where they may conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government.
Six Malasakit Centers have been established in Quezon City located at the Lung Center of the Philippines, Novaliches District Hospital, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute and East Avenue Medical Center.
The DSWD also provided financial assistance to the beneficiaries, particularly to those who were not covered by the Social Amelioration Program.
“I know time is hard now, we are in a crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. My countrymen, let us help one another. Who else will help us but our fellow Filipinos,” said Go.
Due to the impact of the pandemic on lives and livelihoods, Go’s office distributed additional assistance to 200 indigents who sought government support from the DSWD Central Office in Batasan, Quezon City on Thursday.
