Huawei to help promote PH tourism
GLOBAL tech firm Huawei entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Tourism (DoT) in a bid to further promote the country’s tourist destinations, arts and culture to its Huawei Themes app users.
In a statement on Friday, Huawei said that under the partnership, Huawei Themes users will be able to explore local tourist spots, Filipino products and tourism-related events through the application.
Huawei Philippines Vice President Daniel Guo said the company will curate a series of Philippine-centric wallpapers and smartphone themes, including Philippine landscapes and tourist attractions, along with themes created by local artists.
Meanwhile, the tourism department will be the photo contributor to provide source images related to Philippine arts and culture.
Huawei said that DoT will also offer domestic tourism vouchers for hotels, attractions and tours to Huawei Themes users moving forward.
“Our strategy for the safe and gradual reopening of tourism in the Philippines will be greatly supported by this digital content partnership as it will offer Huawei users anywhere in the world with glimpses of our country’s beautiful destinations and allow them to customize their mobile devices with images of our tourism offerings,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat was quoted as saying in the statement.
Puyat and Guo were enjoined by DoT Assistant Secretary Howie Uyking and Huawei Hong
Kong Service Chief Operating Officer Wang Zhihui during the virtual signing ceremony on Friday.
Huawei Themes is one of the first self-developed apps by Huawei Mobile Services and achieved over 1.8 billion of themes download in 2020.
