Imus mayor in hospital for Covid
IMUS CITY, Cavite: Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday and WAS CONfiNED AT THE SOUTH IMUS SPECIALIST HOSPITAL.
“Sa kabila ng ating labis na pag-iingat habang nagseserbisyo sa ating mga kababayan, ikinalulungkot ko pong ibalita na ang inyong lingkod ay positibo sa Covid-19 (In spite of taking extreme care while serving our countrymen, I regretfully announce that yours truly has tested positive for Covid-19),” Maliksi posted on his official Facebook account.
“Ganoon pa man, tuloy ang serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayang Imuseño habang tayo ay naka-isolate at kasalukuyang nagpapagaling sa South Imus Specialist Hospital (In spite of this, service continues for our Imus countrymen while
I isolate myself and consequently recover at the South Imus Specialist Hospital),” Maliksi said.
Fully vaccinated with Sinovac, Maliksi has symptoms of fever, according to Jay Saquilayan, Imus City Information Officer.
“Mananatiling bukas ang mga serbisyo ng pamahalaan para sa inyo lalo na sa kritikal na panahong ito. Pagtutulungan at panalangin ng kagalingan at maayos na kalusugan ang tanging hiling natin para sa lahat (Government services will remain available to you, especially in this critical time. Cooperation, prayers for recovery and good health are my utmost wish for everyone),” Maliksi added.
“Babangon tayo, at sama-sama nating malalagpasan ito (We will rise up, and we will overcome this together),” Maliksi continued.
Imus City has a total of 10,688 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,344 active cases.
Among the active cases, 102 were admitted in hospitals, 1,210 were under quarantine at home and 22 were in isolation facilities.
There have been 9,027 recoveries and 317 Covid-related deaths as of Aug. 14, 2021, according to the Imus City Health Office.
Not long ago, two Maliksi’s family members died of Covid-19 complications: on Feb. 25, 2021, former Cavite governor Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi and on April 29, 2021, the current Imus City mayor’s sister, Joan.
