Radio commentato­r shot dead in Tacurong

A RADIO commentato­r who is running for councilor of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat was shot dead in Tacurong City Wednesday morning.

According to reports from the police and local media, Jaynard Angeles, 37, a commentato­r for Radyo ni Juan Tacurong, was shot in the head by an unidentifi­ed gunman while he was having his van checked at the Falle Auto Repair Shop in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay New Carmen.

The gunman and an accomplice escaped on a motorcycle, police said. The motive behind Angeles’ killing has yet to be establishe­d.

According to the National Union of Journalist­s of the Philippine­s, Angeles was a commentato­r for the “Tinig ng Bayan” program on Radyo ni Juan Tacurong. He has been a broadcaste­r for more than 10 years. He used to be manager of Radyo Bandera Tacurong and Radyo ni Juan Tacurong.

Angeles was running for councilor in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
