QC offers cash to vendors who get jabs

-

QUEZON City Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte said on Wednesday that ambulant and market vendors as well as market employees will be given aid if they get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Citing data from concerned local departments, she said a large number of unvaccinated individuals were market vendors, market employees and ambulant vendors who earn their livelihood on a day-to-day basis.

To encourage them to get vaccinated, the mayor said her government will provide vendors and market employees P2,000 to offset any disruption in their work.

“Most market vendors cannot leave their stalls because of possible loss of income, so to encourage them to take a day off to get vaccinated, we will provide them with incentives,” Belmonte said.

Market vendors, market employees, and ambulant vendors who have not been vaccinated as of January 7 and are willing to be vaccinated from January 8 to 31 are eligible for the program.

The Market Development and Administration Department shall prepare the master list of eligible persons who can prove their status as market vendors, ambulant vendors or market employees.

The list shall be submitted to the City Health Department for the facilitation of their vaccination schedule.
