633 Cavite candidates start campaign today

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite:

Candidates in the May 9, 2022 local elections here in Cavite province are scheduled to begin their respective campaigns today, March 25, 2022, for the gubernator­ial, vice gubernator­ial, congressio­nal and board member seats in the eight districts of the province, as well as city and town mayoral, vice mayoral and council posts.

Around 633 individual­s, who filed their respective certificat­e of candidacie­s on Oct. 1 to 8, 2021, are vying for 268 elective positions.

As a prelude to their campaigns, most of the candidates will begin with a Mass in their localities in the morning with their teams to be followed by motorcades, unity walks and house-to-house visits.

Cavite reelection­ist Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla together with his running mate Tagaytay City Councilor Athena Tolentino start the day with a Mass at historic St. Gregory the Great Church in Barangay Poblacion, Indang town, at 6 a.m.. Indang reelection­ist Mayor Perfecto Fidel and party mates will join a unity walk with Silang town bets led by comebackin­g mayoral bet Emilia Lourdes Poblete, incumbent Mayor Corie Poblete, vice mayoral candidate Ronilo Doneza, Fifth District board member bets Aidel Belamide and Paolo Crisostomo and eight candidates for councilor.

Remulla and Tolentino are scheduled to join the proclamati­on rally of Imus mayoral candidate Rep. Alex Advincula, Imus District congressio­nal bet Adrina Advincula, vice mayoral candidate Homer Saquilayan and board member bets Arnel Cantimbuha­n and Shernan Jaro of National Unity Party to be held at Imus Grandstand in Barangay Malagasang 1-G at 5 p.m.

Ervin Ace Navarette, media relation staff of Congressma­n Advincula, said around 8,000 supporters from 97 villages here are expected to attend the political rally with Rivermaya as guest performer.

In the first district, Noveleta reelection­ist Mayor Dino Chua and Team Unlad Noveleta, Kawit reelection­ist Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo and party mates Rosario reelection­ist Mayor Voltaire Ricafrente and running mate Bam Bam Gonzales and Cavite City mayoral bet Denver Chua will begin the day also with a Mass on Holy Cross Church in Noveleta, Santa Maria Magdalena Church in Kawit, Santo Rosario Church in Salinas (Rosario) town and San Roque Church in Cavite City, respective­ly.

The four town candidates of Noveleta, Kawit, Rosario, and Cavite City will hold a motorcade in their area and head to Noveleta Plaza at 6 p.m. for the proclamati­on rally with Cavite first district congressio­nal bet Vice Gov. Ramon “Jolo” Revilla 3rd.

Mayoral candidate and incumbent Rosario Vice Mayor Antonio Luna and running mate Jun Badidles and the local National Unity Party will hold their proclamati­on rally at Tejero convention covered court at 5 p.m.

In the second district, Deputy Speaker and Bacoor City mayoral candidate Edwin “Strike” Revilla, congressio­nal candidate Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, vice mayoral candidate Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, board member candidates Edwin Malvar and Ram Revilla, and twelve candidates for councilor will start their campaign with a Mass at Santo Niño De Molino Church in Bahayang Pag-asa Road, Molino 5, and motorcade around the area.

In sixth district, unopposed mayoral bet General Trias City Rep. Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer 4th, unopposed congressio­nal bet and concurrent Mayor Antonio Ferrer, vice mayoral candidate Jonas Labuguen, candidates for board member Kerby Salazar and Vice Mayor Morit Sison, and 12 city councilor contenders will start their day also with a Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Barangay Javalera and motorcade around the city.

In the eighth district, Alfonso reelection­ist Mayor Randy Salamat and Team Salamat will attend Mass at St. John Nepomucene in the town proper and lead a motorcade afterward. Magallanes’ unopposed reelection­ist Mayor Jasmin Maligaya-Bautista and party will also attend Mass on March 24, 2022 at Nuestra Señora De Guia and motorcade on Friday.

In Mendez-Nuñez, mayoral candidate incumbent Vice Mayor Francisco “Cocoy” Mendoza Jr of NUP and party will hold mass at St. Augustine church and motorcade afterwards.

In Naic, mayoral candidate and Councilor Raffy Dualan and brother vice mayoral bet Junio Dualan will also attend Mass at Immaculate Conception together with Team Dualan.

The Commission on Elections said the campaign period for local elections starts on March 25 and ends on May 7, 2022, or two days before Election Day with campaign breaks on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on April 14 and 15.
