Women of Fintech: Meet the leaders of GCash
GCASH is driving financial inclusion for all Filipinos through its progressive work culture. And this is championed by its dynamic women leaders — all making a difference in their respective fields of interest.
Through its flagship employee engagement program, G Nation For The Nation, GCash has created an environment of excellence and collaboration that is also providing equal opportunities for growth. The program is part of the company’s continued efforts that enable a diverse workforce to thrive.
In 2021, the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU) reported that only 28.8 percent of the global tech workforce was female. ITU also reported that only about 20 percent of leadership positions were held by women. In contrast, women comprise almost half of GCash employees, and over half of its leadership team are women.
As GCash continues to break stereotypes and boundaries in the local fintech landscape, it is also helping uplift women in business.
In the last two years, more Filipino women turned to GCash for a safe and convenient digital payment platform to support their budding businesses. Many went out of their comfort zones to explore online business opportunities, take on freelance projects, and turn hobbies into income-generating activities to meet household needs.
“The pandemic was a catalyst for more women-led businesses to emerge, powered by GCash. Aside from providing a safe and contactless way to accept payments for their goods, a GCash account allows Filipino women to save money with better-than-industry rates, tap into a credit line for their business and for emergencies, have their family members insured, and even invest earnings in funds for the family’s future,” said GCash Chief Technology and Operations Officer Pebbles Sy.
