Sta. Lucia to appeal homeowners’ eviction
STA. Lucia Realty and Development Inc. (Sta. Lucia) has responded to the Vista Real Classica (VRC) dispute and said it will file a motion for reconsideration before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court this week to prevent the forced “eviction” of 19 homeowners from Lot 116.
Sta. Lucia made this assurance during a meeting with the 19 VRC property owners on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, as all of them have a possibility of losing their homes due to the judgment of the court.
“We, legitimate homeowners at VRC Village and victims of land dispute between the two multibillion-peso property developers, feel harassed and threatened with eviction,” the homeowners said.
According to the homeowners, the tension started on Aug. 17, 2022, when the lawyers of 8990 Housing Development sent a letter to the concerned residents of the reconstituted Lot 116 to concerned owners that 8990 security guards were deployed on strategic points in the area to enforce the writ of execution issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 104 on June 7, 2022.
“We were caught off-guard by these actions of 8990 Housing personnel. As of now, we are still not aware of the full status of the case between Sta. Lucia Realty and 8990 Housing. We are very much concerned as homeowners,”the residents continued.
Attorney Hazel Helmuth, 8990 Holdings Legal Department general manager, said that both respondents, Sta. Lucia Realty and Development Inc. and Garsons Co. Inc., filed separate appeals before the Supreme Court and the appeal filed by Garsons Co Inc. was denied, which made the decision final and executory.
