QC’s pink ladies mark 60 years of public service
THE Quezon City Chamberette Association is celebrating its diamond anniversary today with a fundraising dinner featuring OPM gem Ice Seguerra.
An all-female non-stock, nonprofit organization, the QCCA comprises women achievers and socio-civic leaders from three generations.
Initially founded by the wives of the Quezon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s members, the auxiliary organization started out with the aim of supporting the social welfare component of the men’s association but, through the years, has taken on an identity and mission of its own.
Fast forward to today, the low-key QCCA is considered one of the most outstanding non-government organizations that has helped countless residents of Metro Manila’s largest metropolis.
This evening’s celebration will witness the Chamberettes renewing their promise to continue assisting the less fortunate women and children of QC with the maintenance and upkeep of five daycare centers. Located in the barangay communities of Imelda, Freedom Park, Kalayaan, Loyola and Payatas, the buildings were respectively spearheaded during the incumbency of past president Tessie Rodrigo; past president Mary Halili (deceased); past president Ine Mauricio, DMD on two sites, the latter donated in full by her late husband Rufo Mauricio; and past president Flor Salvador (deceased) in Lupang Pangako.
On its 60th year, the QCCA is led the following officers and directors as seen in photo: (Front row center then left to right) President Angie Monteiro-Mauricio, MD; Secretary Menchie Flores, DMD and Vice President Ada Mauricio-Esquivel; (2nd row from left) Auditor PP Julie Espinosa; Directors Fay Mauricio and Ria Mauricio and Treasurer Ace Sunga; (3rd row from left) Directors Diosa Mauricio Llave, Cecil Catapang and Liza Evaristo; and (4th row) Immediate Past President Peachy Catapang.
A Holy Mass will begin the evening’s festivities with Rev. Fr. Joseph Buslon officiating and will be followed by the recognition of QCCA Fellows and Past Presidents, induction of new members, and the president’s message.
Finally, the dinner concert-fora-cause will cap the anniversary celebration with an acoustic set by Ice Seguerra, the child wonder turned sought after singer-songwriter. Seguerra is the voice behind such hits as “Pagdating ng Panahon,” and is incidentally celebrating 35 years in the show business. Proceeds from the fundraising will of course go to QCCA’s day care centers which continue to serve indigent families of the identified developing barangay communities.
