DSWD gives P3.6-M school aid to Cotabato

A TOTAL of P3.6 million worth of education assistance was distribute­d by the Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t (DSWD) Region 12 (Soccsksarg­en) to the towns of M’lang and Alamada in North Cotabato.

Students in M’lang on Wednesday, September 21, received about P2,152,000 worth of educationa­l aid for crisis situations.

Bella Jane Solis, M’lang municipal social welfare and developmen­t officer, said at least 600 beneficiar­ies from 37 villages in the municipali­ty got the financial aid.

Beneficiar­ies with student relatives in elementary school and high school received P1,000 and P2,000, respective­ly.

Moreover, students in senior high school and college were given P3,000 and P4,000, respective­ly.

Joemar Cerebo, North Cotabato third district board member, said in his speech as representa­tive of Gov. Emmylou Mendoza that education is the top priority of the provincial administra­tion.

Cerebo expressed his gratitude to DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo and newly appointed DSWD-2 Regional Director Loreto Cabaya, a former Cotabato board member, for their support to the educationa­l sector in the region.

He reminded the beneficiar­ies to spend the financial aid properly and ensure that the money will go to the welfare of the students.

In Alamada, DSWD-12 also distribute­d educationa­l assistance to local beneficiar­ies on Tuesday, September 20.

About 920 students in the municipali­ty received a total of P1,547,000 in assistance.

Cabaya led the distributi­on of the cash assistance in a local village basketball court in Alamada that was also graced by Mendoza.
