UP college entrance exam back for‘24-’25
THE University of the Philippines has announced that it will bring back its UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) for academic year (AY) 2024-2025.
In a statement posted on its official website on Thursday night, the state university said this will be the first admissions test since 2020.
“The University of the Philippines will hold the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) in 2023 for first-year admission in the academic year 2024-2025. This will be the first time the UPCAT will be held since 2020,” according to statement.
The decision to restore the UPCAT was made on September 14 by the UP President’s Advisory Council, led by UP president Danilo Concepcion.
The UPCAT will be conducted face-to-face on June 3 and 4, 2023, in around a hundred testing centers across the Philippines.
Applicants should be Grade 11 students in senior high school who are expected to graduate in AY 2023-2024.
Those successful will be admitted in the 2024-2025 school year.
Applications will open in March of next year.
The state university said the early examination aims to ensure a “timely” release of its results in anticipation of an increase in student applications.
“The early opening of applications for UPCAT 2024 and the holding of the UPCAT in June will ensure the timely release of results in light of the anticipated large increase in applications,” UP explained.
“The University Councils (UCs) will meet to refine the details of the administration of UPCAT 2024. The UCs are the highest policy-making body of each UP constituent university within the UP System, comprising the chancellor, professors, associate professors and assistant professors.”
While there will be no UPCAT for AY 2023-2024, the application period for the admission test for that academic year holds.
