Contest your traffic citation ticket online

- BY FRANCIS EARL CUETO

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that motorists can now contest traffiC CITATION TICKETS ONLINE FOLLOWING THE LAUNCHING OF AN APPLICATION ON FRIDAY.

By clicking on the link https:// bit.ly/3J62YhH, motorists

will be instructed to fill out the online complaint form and upload documents like the Unified Ordinance Violation Receipt, driver’s license, and the vehicle’s Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration.

Within three working days, the MMDA-Traffic Adjudication Division (TAD) will review the case and contact the motorist for pre-processing of the complaint.

The pre-processing is the preliminary phase where TAD assesses the basis and/or merit of the complaint, as well as propriety of attachments.

After the pre-processing, and the motorist decides to pursue the complaint, it will be scheduled for hearing after confirmation of his or her availability, that of the enforcer, and hearing officer.

The hearings are face-to-face to validate the submitted documents.

The release of the resolution can be made either physically or via email, also upon the request of the complainant.

If the motorist receives an unfavorable resolution, he or she can still file physically for a motion for reconsideration addressed to the head of TAD.

They can also physically file an appeal addressed to the

MMDA chairman.

Receiving of complaints is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

MMDA acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga 3rd said that the online filing limits the exposure of both the complainant and the MMDA personnel against possible Covid-19 transmission.

He also said the online filing of contests is limited, in the meantime, to physical traffic apprehensions.

Apprehensions via the MMDA’s No-Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) will not be covered and entertained in the online platform pending the final decision of the Supreme Court on the issue.
