Go, dela Rosa assist Malabon residents
SENATORS Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and the team of Sen. Francis Tolentino have visited Malabon City on Thursday and distributed assistance to struggling residents.
Held at the recently opened Potrero Atis Court, the ribboncutting ceremony of which was also witnessed by the senators earlier that day, Go and his team provided grocery packs, vitamins, masks, meals and shirts to 197 low-income residents. Others were also provided with cellular phones and shoes.
As part of Go’s advocacy to promote grassroots sports development, he also handed out bicycles and balls for volleyball and basketball to select individuals.
“Get into sports, stay away from drugs,” he told the youth.
Furthermore, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided livelihood grants as part of the government’s intervention to mitigate the adverse financial impact of the global health crisis.
Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, also offered medical assistance to those with health issues.
He likewise urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the services offered in the Malasakit Centers located at the Ospital ng Malabon or San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital in the city.
The Malasakit Center is a onestop shop designed to aid poor and indigent patients with hospital expenses by covering various services and fees. It brings together relevant agencies, such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office under one roof for patients to conveniently avail of its medical assistance programs.
Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act. To date, there are 152 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
The senator likewise supported the construction of two Super Health Centers in the city as part of his efforts to ensure that more Filipinos have access to quality yet affordable health care.
Later that day, Go and dela Rosa provided similar assistance to indigents in Quezon City.
