Globe Telecom shares post gain week on week
THE stock price of Globe Telecoms posted an improvement week on week, going up 2.64 percent last Friday to P2,174 from its previous price of P2,118 posted on Sept. 16, 2022.
The stock’s highest closing price over a 52-week period was P3,630 on Nov. 19, 2021 while its lowest closing price was P2010.50 logged on Aug. 5, 2022. Its net profits over the past three years were as follows: P22.28 billion in 2019; P18.62 billion in 2020; and P23.72 billion in 2021.
Globe has embarked on launching new services that will benefit its customers and the public. Among others, it unveiled Globe Virtual Hangouts, revealing its metaverse platform on Sept. 7, 2022. This platform, the first of its kind in the Philippines, offers phygital experiences or using technology to bridge the digital world with the physical world, with the purpose of providing unique interactive experiences which, in turn, will be hosted by Globe Prepaid.
Another service launched is GCash incorporating stock trading. Unveiled on Sept. 21, 2022,
GStocks is an in-app stock trading platform that is set to go into beta testing by the fourth quarter of 2022 and to be fully implemented by 2023.
The app is powered by one of the most reputable brokerages in the country, AB Capital Securities and in collaboration with the Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. through the use of their technology.
Martha Sazon, GCash president and chief executive officer, said the new stock trading feature on the app primarily aims to introduce equities trading to more Filipinos who have the potential to invest.
Globe Telecom currently has 86.8 million mobile subscribers (including fully mobile broadband), 3.7 million home broadband customers and 1.3 million landline subscribers.
