HEDCOR LIGHTS UP 2,300 HOUSEHOLDS IN DAVAO SUR

- RUTH PALO

DAVAO CITY: AboitizPower through Hedcor successfully energized a total of 2,300 household connections in Davao del Sur.

The project is part of Hedcor’s 8-million Energization Project in partnership with Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Dasureco).

The project affirms Hedcor’s commitment to pave the way for the province’s growth and progress, particularly in its host communities in Barangay Darong and Sibulan in Santa Cruz town.

Rolando Pacquiao, Hedcor president and chief operating officer, said many people living in urbanized areas take electricity for granted, but for the residents of these communities, being connected to the power grid is a significant step toward improving their lives and strengthening their foothold in the economy.

He said children can now study better in the evening and their parents can continue working well beyond the sunset.

Pacquiao further said that by giving villages better access to electricity, Hedcor can empower more Filipinos, particularly those living in remote areas, into becoming productive members of their communities, and ultimately, of society.

Apart from the electricity, Hedcor also hands over P1 million annual assistance to the electric cooperative that will be used for their Sitio Electrification and Barangay Line Enhancement programs.

Dasureco Officer in Charge Maypearl Laarnie Mangkikis thanked Hedcor for their continued support of the electric cooperative, adding electrification is a vital ingredient in uplifting the lives of the marginalized in the rural areas.

Since 2010, the AboitizPower subsidiary through its energization project has given over 4,000 families access to electricity in Davao del Sur.
