Azurin lauds seizure of P251-M drugs

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City: Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. lauded the PNP drug operating units for the successful operation on Saturday, November 12, in Barangay Buhay na Tubig, Imus City, which led to the confiscati­on of P251.6 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and the arrest of two big-time drug peddlers.

Citing reports from BGen. Narciso Domingo, director of the PNP Drug Enforcemen­t Group, and BGen. Melencio Nartatez, police director of Region 4A, Azurin announced the arrest of Datu Ali Sampulna, male, 38, jobless, and Almira Sampulna, female, 30, married and an online seller. Both suspects are residents of Cotobato City.

The two suspects were arrested in a joint buy-bust launched by operatives of PNP Drug Enforcemen­t Group-Special Operations Unit 4B, PNP Drug Enforcemen­t Group 4A, Cavite Provincial Intelligen­ce Unit, Imus City Police Station, Regional Drug Enforcemen­t Unit 4A and Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency.

Initial investigat­ion disclosed that the suspects were caught in the act of selling more or less one kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated price of P6,800,000.

Also confiscate­d on the possession of the suspects were one white styrofoam box containing more or less 36 kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated price of P244,800,000, one piece genuine one-thousand peso bill dusted with ultra-violet powder placed on top of the buy-bust money, one piece yellow green tickler with label limelight notebook, two units of iPhone color white and silver, one pink pouch containing assorted identifica­tion cards and assorted remittance receipts.

The illegal drugs confiscate­d in the anti-illegal drug operations weighed around 37 kilograms with an estimated value of P251,600,000.

Through a holistic approach as the new face of the anti-drug prevention campaign of the government, Azurin vowed that the PNP would remain relentless in its anti-illegal drug operations and in its drive to put a stop to the illegal drug trade in the country.
