Myles Powell wants PBA title
WHILE Myles Powell believes he’s the best import in the ongoing 2022-23 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, he stressed that his foremost goal is to lead Bay Area to the tournament championship.
“I mean, the championship is better than winning an individual award. That’s what we came here to do, we came here to win the championship and bring the championship to the program,” Powell told media men Sunday evening.
With Bay Area being a guest team, Powell is not qualified to win the Best Import award.
Yet, Powell’s solid numbers per game easily qualifies the Bay Area reinforcement to being a cinch at winning the Best Import award if ever.
In the six games he has played thus far, the former Philadelphia 76ers guard logged per-game averages 38.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
The 25-year-old American is also shooting a red-hot 41.7 percent from the three-point zone.
Yet, he reiterated that hoisting the PBA championship trophy at the close of the mid-season importspiced conference is way better than just winning an individual award.
“That [championship] would mean more to me than winning that [Best Import],” he added.
After switching import spots again with Andrew Nicholson a few days ago, Powell marked his return by dropping 50 points, lacing his explosive return with 11 three-point shots as Bay Area hammered Rain or Shine, 120-87, last Friday.
