Megaworld to build ‘smart’ townships

- ED PAOLO SALTING

REAL estate developer Megaworld said it is investing heavily on technology and data science as it sets out to build smart, future-ready township developments, which at the same time are sustainable

“We have been integrating data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) in various aspects of our business, particularly as we continue to develop next-generation township developments where tech innovations make life a lot safer and more enjoyable for residents, locators and visitors,” Francis Viernes, chief data scientist, TAT (Township Analytics and Technology) Lab director and Megaworld head of data analytics, said.

Part of Megaworld’s initiative is the creation of its own TAT Lab, touted as the first-ever data science lab in Asia, and the Megaworld Command Center, capable of monitoring and consolidating situation reports across all townships. This will be followed up by satellite facilities in the townships that will mirror the central facility.

The structures are slated to be built at McKinley Hill in Taguig City, which will be designed to develop, deploy and improve machine learning models and AI which, in turn, aims to increase security and safety of all Megaworld townships all over the country, such as Northwin Global City, which will be positioned as Bulacan’s global business district.

The township will feature the Northwin Main Street, which will be master planned like New York City’s Fifth Avenue, where corporate buildings, shop-houses (145 prime shop-house and commercial lots), hotels and commercial towers abound while keeping the walkability of the district.

It will also host 9 Central Park, a residential condominium development which will offer 478 units with a wire SMART home system, and is expected to generate P2.2 billion in sales and is scheduled for turnover in 2027.

The P98-billion Northwin Global City township will have other residential condominiums, hotels, malls, mixed-use commercial buildings, educational institutions, and state-of-the-art office towers for BPOs (business process outsourcing) and corporate headquarters.
