MISS Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi, Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2022 Pauline Amelinckx, and Miss Universe Philippines 1st Runner Up Annabelle Mcdonnell visited the Municipality of Marantao and Marawi City, Lanao del Sur to encourage support to children and families most impacted by inequality and discrimination in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through Save the Children’s Life Changer for Children Program.

The said Community Sponsorship Program is Save the Children’s wholeof-community, long-term approach to uplift the lives of 15,000 people, including 3,000 children, in Mindanao. The program will be implemented in partnership with the local government to address the needs of health and nutrition, education, hygiene and sanitation, through sustainable and culturallyappropriate livelihoods.

Cortesi, Amelinckx, and Mcdonnell witnessed the ceremonial handover of the temporary learning space in RanaRanao Elementary School, Marantao and met with the students and teachers of the school. They were among the many schools in BARMM which suffered the most from the massive flooding brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, destroying classrooms and the students’ learning materials.

They also visited the Sama Bajau community in Iligan City, which has been impacted by poverty, malnutrition, limited access to clean water and sanitation, and lack of access to shelter.
