DOLE ASSISTANCE TO BATANES
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma (extreme left) receives the local officials of the province of Batanes led by Gov. Marilou Cayco (fifth from right photo) in his office in Intramuros, Manila. Batanes, a hidden gem in the northernmost part of the country, is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations. Given the continuous economic impact of the pandemic, Governor Cayco sought the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) in providing economic relief to a number of displaced workers through the Department’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) Program. On the part of DoLE, the labor chief said the department is committed to reaching out to the needy workers especially those with limited knowledge and access to DoLE and in the far-urban areas. Laguesma is joined by Workers Welfare and Protection Cluster Undersecretary Benjo Santos Benavidez and Financial and Management Service Director Warren Miclat.
