Go graces Bulacan’s GGB awards

SEN. Christophe­r Lawrence “Bong” Go graced the 21st Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB) awarding ceremony as the provincial government of Bulacan recognized the outstandin­g barangay (village) and community public servants at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, The Pavilion, City of Malolos on Wednesday.

Go was joined by Gov. Daniel Fernando and Vice Gov. Alex Castro in the awarding of plaques of recognitio­n and financial incentives to the winners.

In his speech, the senator emphasized the importance of the barangay officials, tanod and volunteers as they contribute a lot as frontline services to the community. He assured them of his full support in any of their barangay programs.

Meanwhile, Fernando advised the awardees to use the awards as inspiratio­n to work harder and be more effective in their services to the barangay.

The governor said that through the GGB, the efforts and diligence in the service of barangay officials, workers and volunteers are recognized and rewarded.

GGB is under the Bulacan Awards Program for Barangay Innovation and Excellence.

For his part, Castro encouraged those in barangay service to love their work, whether they are an official or not.

“The barangay servants should be given honor at every opportunit­y. Whether their contributi­on is small or big, their initiative­s need to be given love,” Castro said.

Ma. Lourdes San Andres of Barangay Loma de Gato, Marilao was named as the Most Outstandin­g Barangay Captain and received P50,000 and a plaque of recognitio­n.

The five Natatangin­g Gawaing Pambaranga­y awards went to Barangay Bagong Nayon, Baliwag; Barangay Lambakin, Marilao; Barangay Loma De Gato, Marilao; Barangay Pinagbaril­an, Baliwag and Barangay Tarcan, Baliwag. Each winner received P200,000 and a plaque of recognitio­n.

The other winners were Johnny Marcelo of Agnaya, Plaridel as the Natatangin­g Kagawad ng Barangay; Vanessa Carla Endaya of Loma De Gato, Marilao as the Natatangin­g Kalihim ng Barangay; Marilyn Maniego as the Natatangin­g Ingat Yaman ng Barangay; Imelda Lopez of San Jose, Paombong as the Natatangin­g Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon; Mary Ann Dimla of Barangay Piel, Baliwag as the Natatangin­g Mother Leader; Vilma Gan of Poblacion, Guiguinto as the Natatangin­g Barangay Health Workers; and Rosemarie Estrellado of Pagala, Baliwag as the Natatangin­g Barangay Training and Employment Coordinato­r.

Edwin Lopez of Lumang Bayan, Plaridel, meanwhile, was named Natatangin­g Barangay Tanod for three consecutiv­e years and was elevated to the GGB Hall of Fame.

The Pinagkaisa­ng Lakas ng Kababaihan ng Bunsuran, Pandi also won as the Natatangin­g Volunteer Group.

The Natatangin­g Barangay Trailblaze­rs plum went to Barangay Caingin, Malolos City; Barangay Santa Clara, Sta. Maria; Barangay Tabang Plaridel and Barangay Biñang 2nd, Bocaue.

Fernando and Castro congratula­ted and thanked all the winners. They enjoined the winners to serve as sterling examples to their fellow barangay public servants.
