Early Christmas for Tarlac workers

- BY JERRY M. HERNANDEZ

EMPLOYEES of the city government of Tarlac have more reason to celebrate this Christmas season as another BENEfiT IS SET TO fiLL THEIR POCKETS.

Besides getting their year-end bonus and cash gift on November 15, the city employees will be receiving their performance-based bonus (PBB) for fiscal year 2021 after the city government consistently passed the minimum local governance standards of good financial housekeeping.

The granting of the PBB has been approved through Resolution 10-17-247, which was passed by the city council, in response to a request of the city chief executive to adopt such a resolution that will support the giving of benefit to qualified officials and employees.

Joint Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Department of Budget and Management Memorandum Circular 2021-01 had prescribed guidelines on the granting of the bonus.

Based on an urgent advisory of the DILG issued late last month, the city government of Tarlac was included in the list of eligible local government units (LGUs) that may grant the PBB.

Aside from Tarlac City, 9 other LGUs in the province were also included in the list: the provincial government and the municipalities of Bamban, Capas, Gerona, Moncada, Paniqui, Pura, San Clemente, Santa Ignacia and Victoria.

City employees were elated by the information, noting that such additional benefits would be useful for their daily expenses and bills.

In a statement, Vice Mayor Genaro Mendoza expressed appreciation to the government’s concern for employees, resulting in the passage of the resolution, which he said will continue to inspire them to perform their jobs better.

“Napakabait ng gobyerno natin sa pagbibigay ng mga ganitong benepisyo kung kaya’t dapat lang nating ibalik sa mamamayan ang nararapat na serbisyo publiko (Our government is so caring in giving these kinds of benefits so it is just proper to give back the best public service to the people),” Mendoza added.
