Bataan, Tarlac towns receive P2M each from Thailand firm
SAMAL, Bataan: This town and Gerona municipality in Tarlac were beneficiaries of P2 million each from Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines Corp. (CPFPC) from income made by a recent half-marathon organized by the Thai firm.
Samal Mayor Alexander Acuzar on Wednesday said his town and Gerona divided the P3.5M collected from the marathon plus the P500,000 pledged by Udomsak Aksornphakdee, CPFPC senior vice president for aquaculture business.
The event was held last Sunday at the parade grounds of the Clark Special Economic Zone in Pampanga.
Acuzar said the CPFPC, which has feed mills in Samal and Gerona, conducted the half-marathon with laps of 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers and 5 kilometers to raise funds for medical equipment of the two towns.
The Thai firm operates integrated agro-industrial and food business, including livestock and aquaculture such as swine, broiler, layer, duck, shrimp and fish.
The Samal mayor thanked the CPFPC’s officials for the town’s P2 million-share.
Samal information officer Raphael Naty said executives of the CPFPC composed of vice chairman Sakol Cheewakoset, senior vice president Udomsak Aksornphakde and chief finance officer Supakitti Bunvet headed the affair.
Ambassador to the Philippines Tull Traisorat of the Kingdom of Thailand was the guest of honor.
Acuzar, members of the Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council), and barangay (village) chairmen and other officials from Samal joined the event in full force, Naty said.
