Adamson, Thai university to host intl economic education forum
ADAMSON University (AdU) and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand will serve as hosts for the Council of Economics Educators, Inc.’s (Cecon) 26th National Conference and 5th International Conference on Economic Education in Southeast Asian Nations (ICEE-SEAN) to be held via a hybrid setup from November 24 to 26.
The event with the theme “Economics Education: Sustainability Amidst Disruptions and Conflict in the New Normal Among Southeast Asian Nations” is expected to bring together faculty members teaching economics, social sciences, and business management, as well as students, researchers, and policymakers under the same discipline to discuss Economics Education in the ICEE-SEAN.
In-person activities will be held in AdU, while online mode will be conducted via Zoom conference.
“[ICEE-SEAN] will allow educators to understand the importance of every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to shape a sustainable future that ensures environmental protection and conservation, promotes social equity and encourages economic sustainability,”
Cecon explained.
Confirmed speakers for the said forum include National Economic and Development Authority Office of Policy and Planning Group Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon, Dr. Rhea M. Mola of Asian Development Bank, and Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, executive director of the Asean University Network.
The Manila Times Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dante “Klink” Ang 2nd, Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Dr. Jo Mark Libre, Jose Rizal University President Dr. Vicente K. Fabella, Ateneo de Manila University Economics Department Chairman Dr. Alvin Ang, Universidad de Manila President Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, and Associate Professor Yong Yoon, associate dean of the Faculty of Economics at Chulalongkorn University also confirmed their participation.
“The disruption of Covid-19 in the educational system is of great magnitude that colleges and universities must cope with at the soonest possible time,” Cecon continued. “The call is for higher education institutions to develop a resilient learning system using evidence-based and needs-based information to implement responsive and proactive measures.”
