Mendoza bats for Mindanao airport
NORTH Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza led a personal visit to representatives of airline companies to encourage them to place flights in the soon-to-be-opened Central Mindanao Airport.
According to a report, the airline companies expressed a positive response to the governor’s appeal to place flights in the province of Cotabato.
However, the airline company needs time to study the feasibility of the new flight destination.
Mendoza said among the things the airline companies are looking at is the peace and order situation in the province.
The governor, however, assured the airline companies that peace-keeping forces are on top of the situation. She also guaranteed the safety of the airplanes, the passengers, as well as the airline crew and staff.
The new airport is scheduled to open next year.
Mendoza was joined by Assistant Majority Floor Leader and Cotabato Third District Rep. Maria Alana Samantha Santos in meeting with representatives from Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, and Cebu Pacific.
