7 Cordillerans probed for drug financing

- DEXTER SEE

BAGUIO CITY: The Cordillera office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEACAR) classified seven individuals from the different parts of the region as persons of interest for their alleged involvement in direct drug financing.

PDEA-CAR regional director Gil Cesario Castro stated that the agency is now validating the assets of the seven individuals.

Castro pointed out that anti-narcotics agents possess certain documents that link the said individuals to drug lords detained in the national penitentiary. However, he said, further validation is needed to ensure that the cases that will be filed against them will be airtight.

The PDEA-CAR official asserted that there is a need for the agency to continue putting the heat on the drug personalities and coordinate with the Anti-Money Laundering Council.

Castro, meanwhile, said that law enforcement agencies cannot do the job alone and they need the cooperation from the public to solve the country’s drug problem.

He rallied the people to provide vital information on the activities of drug personalities in their places so that the authorities can conduct the operation to apprehend the suspects.
