IBA, Zambales: After consistently showing his compassion and love for Zambaleños, Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was declared an adopted son of this province by the provincial government of Zambales.

Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. on Tuesday presented Senator Go a copy of the provincial board resolution adopting the senator as son of the province for his support to the health services program of the province and his efforts to empower local governance and strengthen delivery of public service.

The “adoption documents” were handed to the senator during his visit to this town to inspect infrastructure projects whose funding he had sponsored.

“Without his support, these projects like the new Iba municipal hall and the super-health center would not have materialized at all. And the people of Zambales are really grateful for that,” Ebdane said.

Go, who authored the Malasakit Center Act of 2019, arrived here on Tuesday with Sen. Robinhood Padilla to distribute assistance to indigent families in the community.

They also did an ocular inspection of the new Iba municipal building in Barangay Dirita and the Super Health Center in Barangay Bangantalinga.

Go said that as chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, he is pushing for the establishment of 304 super health centers all over the country.

“These are bigger than your usual health centers,” he said.

“I want to strengthen the health system because we don’t know if this (Covid-19) will be the last pandemic we will experience.”

In the resolution, the Zambales provincial board recognized Go’s “significant contributions, goodwill and support to Zambaleños” and cited the establishment of a Malasakit Center at the provincial hospital where indigent patients get medical assistance.

The resolution added that Go “embodied the spirit of good governance and public service and empowered the government of Zambales by pouring resources and aid to the province.”

Aside from his health projects, Go also provided assistance for agriculture and food security, sports and youth development, as well as fire prevention and protection among others, the Zambales commendation said.

The resolution commending Go and naming him as adopted son of Zambales was sponsored by board member Jun Rundstedt Ebdane and was unanimously approved by the provincial board.
