BEST tankers dominate PSI swim tournament

BEHROUZ Elite Swimming Team (BEST) tankers once again proved that they are a force to reckon with by bagging 77 medals in the 2022 PSI Short Course National Championsh­ips held at the New Clark City Aquatic Center in Capas, Tarlac.

Veteran internatio­nal campaigner Peter Dean spearheade­d the team’s onslaught, earning seven gold, two silver and one bronze medals in the two-day meet.

Dean ruled the 100m individual medley (1:02.00), 50m backstroke (28.02), 400m IM (4:48.00), 100m backstroke (1:01.00), 200m IM (2:16.00), 50m butterfly (27.12), and 200m backstroke (2:11).

He finished second in the 200m freestyle (25.51) and 200m breaststro­ke (2:38.00), then third in the 50m breaststro­ke (33.24).

Also making waves was Yugo Cabana, who earned gold medals in the 50m breastroke, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly.

Sharing the spotlight was World Junior Championsh­ips veteran Amina Bungubung who bagged gold medals in the 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle, and Shinloah Yve San Diego, a winner of gold medals in the 200m IM and 200m breaststro­ke.

Mohammad Madi Mojdeh, younger brother of World Junior Championsh­ips semifinali­st Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh, likewise delivered a remarkable showing, winning two bronzes in the 200m freestyle (2:30.6) and 50m butterfly (33.86).

The other medalists were Lleyton Rara, Hjalmar Pasaylo, Kimberly Estacio, Sierdon Caguimbal, Ashby Canlas and Zahjeed Sarmiento.
