The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED for content creators
THE all-new Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED is ideal for content creators and the on-the-go creative multitasker who don’t have an intensive workflow. I wished I had discovered this Zenbook creator before I bought a gaming laptop for my video creation.
In my one-year experience as a video shorts creator, I discovered that I often use my mobile phone to capture video and edit the footage using Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe Premiere Rush on my laptop. Having a dual screen is very useful, especially since I travel a lot.
How convenient to carry this compact dual-screen laptop with the next-generation ScreenPad Plus secondary touchscreen. Having a secondary display with a unique ASUS Active Aerodynamic System Ultra (AAS Ultra) hinge design lifts the ScreenPad Plus to an ergonomic viewing angle and enhances thermal performance.
When I open the secondary display, it would rise to 12 degrees for a better view while also opening a massive intake for 38 percent higher airflow than that without AAS Ultra design. Worth noting is the main display featuring a 16:10 14.5-inch OLED HDR touchscreen.
Not only does the display support up to 2880 x 1800 resolution, but it is also the world’s first laptop with 120 Hz OLED display. Content creators will enjoy a smoother visual experience compared to a laptop with a 165Hz LCD display.
Why does the 120 Hz OLED display better than the 165Hz LCD display? The OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate takes approximately 8.3 ms to refresh to the next frame, and its fast 0.2ms response time enables it to fully show the image in 8.5m.
Compared with a 165Hz/3ms display it needs approximately 9.06 ms (6.06+3 ms) to show the correct image. Not only is the 165Hz LCD display brighter and more vivid than the 120Hz OLED display, but also has a better motion clarity, providing users with a smoother visual experience.
Cross-screen multitasking and creative workflows are more efficient with the ScreenPad Plus. When I write my article, I see the full page because of the ScreenPad Plus. My workflow is also on this screen when I use my video editing software instead of being placed to the right side of the main screen.
A Control Center UI could be adjusted by snapping it to the right, left, or bottom. A new Control Center button makes it possible to minimize the taskbar into a floating button and enables an auto-hide function that hides the taskbar entirely.
To help creators accelerate workflows with the ScreenPad Plus, ASUS added a new Control Panel app that supports Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom Classic last year. Adobe Illustrator is supported in the latest version of the Control Panel.
When the user opens any of these apps, the Control Panel app opens a corresponding panel suited to each software set, enabling commonly used functions such as zoom, brightness and contrast via sliders, buttons and dials. Creators could fully customize the functions and icon positioning for each of the app-specific decks.
The Control Panel will automatically launch the deck assigned to each of the supported apps.
ScreenPad Plus now offers a Touchpad mode. After enabling it on the settings page, simply tapping the ScreenPad Plus turns it into a massive touchpad. To close it simply, tap the X icon at the top right.
