BAGUIO CITY: City officials commended the University of the Cordilleras (UC) for being among the top-ranking law schools in the country based on the 2020-2021 bar examination results.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that UC is indeed “holding up the torch of knowledge and wisdom, making the city a renowned educational center of the north and a mecca of learning.”

The body further said that the city government is proud and commends the university and its graduates’ accomplishments.

Bar examination chairperson Associate Justice Marvic Leonen recently announced that 8,241 out of 11,202 examinees passed the 2020-2021 bar exam, which was the first digitized bar exam in the country.

UC was named among the top law schools in the country for having placed third among the law schools in Group 1, with an excellent passer in the person of Stephanie Mae Bibat Domingo.

Passers with excellent performance are those who garnered a grade or score of 91 percent and above.

In the said examination, there was no list of the traditional top notchers but instead, performing examinees were recognized according to their exemplary and excellent performance in the bar examinations.

The council claimed that UC has consistently exhibited exemplary performances in the previous examination years.

Based on the available report issued by the Legal Education Board, out of the top 10 performing law schools in the 2019 bar examinations, UC ranked 9th for law schools with at least 63 examinees.

In the bar examination conducted in 2018, records showed that UC ranked 23rd out of the 108 law schools whose graduates took the bar. The said report was based on the statistical data of the Supreme Court that was issued by the same board.

The city council added that the local government gave the same recognition to UC’s very own Stephanie Mae Bibat Domingo for her excellent performance.
