POLICEMAN KILLED IN ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna: A police officer died after he was accidentally shot by his fellow policeman inside the barangay (village) hall in Barangay 1-B, San Pablo City, Laguna, on Thursday morning. According to a San Pablo City police report, Cpl. Frank Aldene Yasay, native of Alicia, Isabela, and assigned to the SWAT unit of the city police station, and a fellow policeman were cleaning their guns when the incident happened. The latter officer was not identified in the report. Yasay was hit in the chest. Both men had been preparing for an inspection of their firearms by the regional supply accountable officer. Yasay was brought to the hospital where he was declared dead by the attending doctor. The officer who shot the victim was taken into custody by authorities. Investigation of the incident continues.
