THE Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) on Friday said the Western Mindanao Command was able to neutralize six suspected members of the New People’s Army during a series of encounters in Sultan Kudarat on Thursday.

The names of the victims were not given.

Joint Task Force Central commander, Maj. Gen. Roy Galido, said a clash ensued between the 7th Infantry Battalion and around 10 suspected rebels at Sitios Sandigan and Mudti in Barangay Chua.

The rebels were led by Dennis Dulonan or “Kalbo,” an alleged executive committee member and deputy secretary of the remnants of East Daguma Front, Sub-Regional Committee Daguma, Far South

Mindanao Region.

The report said that Dulonan is wanted for arson and frustrated murder.

Recovered from the scene were three M16 rifles, one AK47 rifle, magazines, propaganda materials and personal belongings.

“This recent encounter exemplifies that the communist terrorist groups’ capabilities are significantly degraded,” Westmincom acting commander Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas said.

“Rest assured that we will sustain our current campaign and strengthen our partnership with all stakeholders to destroy the remaining threat groups who refuse to return to the folds of the law,” he added.
