Nation builders cited in Mosliv Awards

THE role played by business profession­als, private individual­s, organizati­ons and government leaders toward nation-building and sustainabi­lity was given recognitio­n during the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards 2022 held on Friday night.

Mosliv, which stands for Most Sustainabl­e and Liveable, serves as a guide to achieving the United Nations Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals for a global climate-neutral society by 2050.

It is also aimed at providing inspiratio­n for those in key positions, or roles of influence, to advocate for responsibl­e and earth-friendly, or green, practices.

The awards give honor to the exemplary accomplish­ments of leaders, initiative­s, and organizati­ons who have made sustainabi­lity an integral part of their business practice and worked to reduce the negative impact of their business on the environmen­t.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila in Parañaque City.

In her message, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to the people behind the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards for the inspiring work they have done by recognizin­g the active involvemen­t of Filipinos and strengthen­ing their capacities to promote sustainabi­lity standards in their respective communitie­s.

“This gathering brings inspiratio­n and complement­s the government’s whole-of-nation approach, promoting diversifie­d ideas and actions, and refining leadership strategies to engender long-term planning and sustainabi­lity of the economy, environmen­t, and human capital developmen­t,” Vice President Duterte said.

Some of those given recognitio­ns were Cabiao, Nueva Ecija Mayor Ramil Rivera who was awarded as Honorary Local Chief Executive of the Year and Cabiao as the Most Sustainabl­e and Liveable Municipali­ty; Panay village in Santa Marcela, Apayao, as the Most Sustainabl­e and Liveable Barangay in the Philippine­s; General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite Mayor Dennis Glean as Local Chief Executive of the Year; Mandaue City Rep. Emmarie Ouano-Dizon as Congresswo­man of the Year; Tiglawigan, Capiz City Sanggunian­g Kabataan Chairman Melvin Derecho Er-er as Honorary Public Servant of the Year; and Calinog, Iloilo Mayor Francisco Calvo as Mayor of the Year.

Seven Mosliv awards were handed out, nine for the Nation Builders awards and 21 Most Sustainabl­e and Liveable Awards (Business Category).
