MILITARY OFFICERS AND PERSONNEL PARTICIPAT­E IN NATIONAL PEACE SUMMIT IN ZAMBOANGA CITY

CAMP NAVARRO, Calarian, Zamboanga City: The officers and enlisted personnel from the different units under the command and control of the Western Mindanao Command participat­ed in the National Peace Summit on Nov. 23, 2022. The Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Developmen­t Alliance, led by Dr. Grace Rebollos, spearheade­d the conduct of the activity at Palacio del Sur, Governor Camins Avenue, this city. More than a hundred representa­tives from various sectors, including the academe, youth, elders, religious, business, women, and security, gathered to discuss peace and security issues in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., presidenti­al adviser on Peace, Reconcilia­tion, and Unity, was the keynote speaker during the summit. He focused on the breakthrou­ghs in the peace process, challenges and interventi­ons. Dr. Alzad Sattar, vice president for Internal Affairs of the Basilan Ulama Supreme Council, delivered a solidarity message focusing on the struggle for peace in the“BARMM: Implicatio­ns for Peace in Mindanao and the Country.”Miguel Angel Lopez, Covenio general coordinato­r expatriate for the Philippine­s, and Irene Santiago, chair emerita and chief executive officer of the Mindanao Commission on Women Inc. also delivered their respective solidarity messages.
