Mindanao Container Terminal equipment upgraded

INTERNATIONAL Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) said the newly acquired mobile harbor crane will enhance the capacity and boost the productivity of Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Misamis Oriental.

MCT’s mobile harbor crane will augment existing quay cranes to enhance the overall vessel handling capability by enabling the simultaneous handling of two longer ships.

MCT ramps up productivity with more equipment. In March, it deployed two new rubber-tired gantries (RTGs) to increase the efficiency of its landside operations. In November, A side lifter is deployed to support its recently launched empty container depot service. This December, the mobile harbor crane will be operational.

“MCT’s acquisition of additional port equipment is part of its ongoing expansion program. This comes after the 100-meter berth expansion and installation of dolphin mooring and inland bollards back in 2020,” ICTSI said.

MCT has made these improvements to address the increase in volume and service demand, brought by the growing markets in Mindanao.

A subsidiary of ICTSI, MCT develops, manages and operates the container terminal at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. It provides full terminal operations and supports the agro-industrial sectors in Mindanao.

MCT also supports the country’s international standing as a leader in the fresh and canned pineapple trade.
