MAYOR John Rey Tiangco, together with the city council, led the blessing and inauguration of three additional wards in the Navotas City Hospital (NCH) on November 21.

The 15-bed-capacity wards were located at the lower ground floor of NCH.

“It has been seven years since we opened our hospital to the public. As time passed, more and more people sought its services; thus, the need to continuously upgrade its facilities and equipment,” Tiangco said.

Simultaneous with the blessing, the city hospital also held Kalusugan Check, which included free eye checkups, HPV testing and pelvic ultrasound.

It also conducted diabetes lectures, RBS screening, visual education for diabetic patients, dietary advice, and PhilHealth Konsulta registration, screening and consultation.

In 2018, the city government began construction of the NCH extension to cater to more Navoteños in need of medical treatment and health services.

Upon completion, it would increase the hospital’s bed capacity from 50 to 120 with 15 intensive care unit beds.

Aside from the additional computerized tomography scan for the Radiology Department, it would also have an automated laboratory and pathology services.

The expansion would also allow the city hospital to meet the qualifications of a Level 2 Department of Health-accredited facility.
