Bulacan wounded cops rewarded

PRO-3 Regional Director BGen. Cesar Pasiwen together with Bulacan PPO Provincial Director Col. Relly Arnedo on Tuesday visited and extended assistance to the two police officers who were wounded during an armed encounter on Monday.

Central Luzon’s regional chief visited Cpl. Richard Neri and Pat. Aaron James Ibasco of the 3rd Maneuver Platoon, Bulacan’s 2nd Police Mobile Force Company, who were both confined at the Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos, Bulacan.

Neri and Ibasco were commended for their bravery by Pasiwen as they were wounded during a police operation that almost cost them their lives after they fought a notoriousl­y sought-after individual with courage.

Neri sustained a gunshot wound in his left jaw that went through his nape while Ibasco was shot in his left waist but both were declared in safe conditions in an armed encounter in Barangay Maligaya, San Miguel, Bulacan at 2:30 a.m. on November 28.

Arnedo said that their valor in the line of duty was rewarded with financial assistance and the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting.

Pasiwen also commended the whole operating troops for a job well done and further assured the public that Central Luzon cops will continue their campaign to eradicate all forms of criminalit­y, particular­ly illegal drugs and loose firearms, within the region in line with the directives of PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

In the said operation, two remnant members of the Salvador Crime Group involved in a series of robbery holdups in the region were killed and identified as Rommel Suarez and Elcid Pascual, both from Nueva Ecija.

Four more suspects believed to be cohorts of Suarez were arrested in the operation and were identified as Fernando Perez and Reynier de la Cruz, both residents of Maligaya, San Miguel, Bulacan; Shierlyn Anne Pangilinan of Gapan; and Rowena Daquiz of Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
