MAN NABBED FOR TRANSPORTI­NG P5M MARIJUANA IN KALINGA

PASIL, Kalinga: A 29-year-old man was arrested after attempting to transport more than P5 million worth of marijuana at Barangay Cagaluan here recently. Police authoritie­s identified the marijuana courier as Albert Boraway Dugwawi, a resident of Barangay Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga. Investigat­ion showed that personnel of the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force (PMFC) received informatio­n that an individual will be transporti­ng marijuana products from Tinglayan to Tabuk City. Acting on the informatio­n, joint operatives of the 2nd Kalinga PMFC, Tabuk City Police Station, Lubuagan MPS and Provincial Drug Enforcemen­t Unit conducted an interdicti­on operation in Sitio Dinacan, Barangay Dangoy in Lubuagan, Kalinga. At the checkpoint, however, the vehicle sped off toward Pasil. The operating units chased the vehicle and found it abandoned along Pasil-Balbalan Road. They discovered 10 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops with an estimated weight of 10,000 grams with a standard drug price (SDP) of P1.2 million; three pieces tubular forms of suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks with an

estimated weight of 3,000 grams with an SDP of P360,000; and 18 pieces medium rectangula­r shaped dried marijuana leaves and stalks with an estimated weight of 35,000 grams with an SDP of P4.2 million. The operatives immediatel­y conducted a manhunt operation that resulted in the arrest of suspect Dugwawi in Barangay Cagaluan. The suspect and the pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Pasil MPS for documentat­ion and proper dispositio­n.
