Sorsogon road mishap kills six, injures 13
LEGAZPI CITY: Six people were killed including a public school teacher while 13 others sustained multiple injuries in a vehicular accident in San Rafael village, Castilla town in Sorsogon province on January 27 at 3:45 p.m., according to a report on January 28.
Based on the police report, the Isuzu van bearing plate number CBN 1317, registered to Benjo Garcia and driven by Marlon de Leon Lorenzo, 51, resident of Barangay San Vicente, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija, was traversing from Sorsogon City to Legazpi City while a passenger jeepney with plate number EVF 866 and registered under the name of the driver Rodolfo Licup Jr., 53, a resident of Buenavista village Sorsogon City, traversing the opposite direction collided in San Rafael in Castilla town resulting in the death of six passengers and wounding of 13 others.
LtCol. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquid, PNP Bicol spokesman, identified the casualties of the tragic vehicular accident as Maribel Lomerio Pardillo, 45, a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon; Karen Jamisola Maquiñana, 45, public school teacher and a resident of Barangay Talisay, Sorsogon City; Erik Dino Deonida, 19, a resident of San Roque, Bacon District, Sorsogon City; Heidy Locsin Albao, 58, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Castilla, Sorsogon; Amparo Candia Bajaro, 60, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Castilla, Sorsogon; and Janelle Abarientos, 17, a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon.
The six casualties were rushed to the nearest hospital for immediate medical treatment but declared dead on arrival. While 13 other persons sustained injuries.
The 13 persons who sustained injuries were Merly Abarientos; Antonio Marco, 65, and a resident of Bucal-Bucalan village Sorsogon City; Muhammad Aiman, 35, and a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon; Arjay Desuyo, 23; Richele Lasay Destura, 45, a resident of Barangay Balogo, Sorsogon City; Nida Habulan Peralta, 45, resident of Barangay San Isidro, Castilla, Sorsogon; Rose Dame Diesta, 23, a resident of Barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon; John Juris Valle, 20 from Barangay San Rafael, Castilla, Sorsogon; James Lorence Marigundon, 15, from Barangay Sogoy, Castilla, Sorsogon; April Habana Gojo, 20, from Biriran, Juban, Sorsogon; Erica Joy Carillo, 22, from Barangay Pangpang, Sorsogon City; Kayle Mae Castro, 20, from Barangay Sampaloc, Sorsogon City; and Alia Desonia, 19, from Barangay Sampaloc, Sorsogon City.
