Driver who injured 13 persons may lose license

- FRANCO JOSE C. BAROÑA

THE Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has recommended that the license of the SUV driver who plowed into 12 vehicles and injured 13 individuals in Mandaluyong City on Jan. 10, 2023 be revoked.

LTO-IID Officer in Charge Renan Melitante on Tuesday said Dominador Braga, 54, already gave his judicial affidavit wherein he admitted that he was the one driving the SUV when the incident happened.

“We have finished the investigation and the LTO will issue a decision based on the evidence [at] hand in addition to the driver’s confession,” Melitante added.

Braga is currently detained at the Mandaluyong City Police Custodial Center and his counsel Paul Nicodemes Roldan acted as his representative in an LTO hearing on Monday.

Melitante said if Braga wants to obtain a driver’s license again, he will go through a strict process.

Two persons were onboard the

Land Cruiser (NIX 307) when it plowed through eight cars and four motorcycles at One San Miguel Avenue, Barangay Wack Wack around 8:32 a.m. on January 10.

They were Braga and Roldan Jose Mari Elizagaque.

Results of the investigation showed that the Land Cruiser was traversing Sheridan Street in Greenfield District when the incident happened.

The Land Cruiser was headed toward One San Miguel Avenue in Pasig when it hit two motorcycles.

Instead of stopping, the Land Cruiser’s driver sped through the intersection of Shaw Boulevard and San Miguel Avenue, where it hit another motorcycle, a gray Toyota Innova (UOP295), and a street light along the center island.

When the Land Cruiser’s driver tried to reverse, it hit another motorcycle and continued onto the south-bound lane of San Miguel Avenue, where it collided with several other vehicles.
