- FREDERICK SILVERIO

HUNDREDS of gill nets and marine equipment were distributed to 300 Bulakenyo fishermen spearheaded by Gov. Daniel Fernando through the Provincial Agriculture Office during a distribution activity held at the Bulacan Sports Complex in the City of Malolos on February 1, 2023.

The 233 gill nets and 65 marine engines distributed to the fishermen came from the City of Malolos and from the towns of Hagonoy, Calumpit, Paombong, San Rafael and Obando.

According to Fernando, agriculture plays a significant role in Bulacan’s development and it is important to always be prepared and alert for natural disasters as it will affect the fishermen’s livelihood.

He also advised them to remain responsible and to keep their strong spirit when unexpected natural disasters occur in the province.

Be responsible even as progress and development visit us. But, let us pray that no typhoons will strike us again, let us pray for this year to be good to us so that our fishermen can continue to make a living, and keep on taking care of your health),” Fernando said.

The governor also gave additional cash assistance worth P1,000 to each fisherman as additional aid for their families.
