DTI, FCF Minerals renew MSME dev’t partnershi­p

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the FCF Minerals Corp. have renewed their partnershi­p for the developmen­t of micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSMEs) in Barangay Runruno in the municipali­ty of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya.

The partnershi­p aims to “sustain the momentum of developing and strengthen­ing the entreprene­urial skills of the livelihood organizati­ons in Runruno,” Marietta Salviejo, DTI provincial director, said.

FCF Minerals supports the developmen­t of community-based organizati­ons (CBOs) in the said barangay (village).

Salaviejo said the activities lined up for collaborat­ion between the DTI and the mining company are Advanced Loom Weaving Training, Facilitati­on of FCF-CBOs participat­ion in various provincial, regional and national trade fairs; Business Improvemen­t Plan or Business Plan Preparatio­n Workshop and the Runruno

Edition of Digital Journey for Micro Enterprise­s.

The trade fair is held annually by the barangay’s local government and the mining company in partnershi­p with national government agencies and the private sector to promote the products of CBOs in the community.

FCF Minerals is a mining company owned by UK-based Metals Exploratio­n Plc. They own the Runruno gold-molybdenum project based in Nueva Vizcaya.

Nueva Vizcaya’s primary sector includes agricultur­al crops, livestock and poultry, fisheries and forestry. Its second sector are mining and quarrying stating that “44 percent of the total combined metallic and nonmetalli­c mineral reserves in the region are found in Nueva Vizcaya according to the Mines and GeoScience­s Bureau,” according to the Nueva Vizcaya provincial government website.
