DTI, FCF Minerals renew MSME dev’t partnership
THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the FCF Minerals Corp. have renewed their partnership for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Barangay Runruno in the municipality of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya.
The partnership aims to “sustain the momentum of developing and strengthening the entrepreneurial skills of the livelihood organizations in Runruno,” Marietta Salviejo, DTI provincial director, said.
FCF Minerals supports the development of community-based organizations (CBOs) in the said barangay (village).
Salaviejo said the activities lined up for collaboration between the DTI and the mining company are Advanced Loom Weaving Training, Facilitation of FCF-CBOs participation in various provincial, regional and national trade fairs; Business Improvement Plan or Business Plan Preparation Workshop and the Runruno
Edition of Digital Journey for Micro Enterprises.
The trade fair is held annually by the barangay’s local government and the mining company in partnership with national government agencies and the private sector to promote the products of CBOs in the community.
FCF Minerals is a mining company owned by UK-based Metals Exploration Plc. They own the Runruno gold-molybdenum project based in Nueva Vizcaya.
Nueva Vizcaya’s primary sector includes agricultural crops, livestock and poultry, fisheries and forestry. Its second sector are mining and quarrying stating that “44 percent of the total combined metallic and nonmetallic mineral reserves in the region are found in Nueva Vizcaya according to the Mines and GeoSciences Bureau,” according to the Nueva Vizcaya provincial government website.
