NNC relaunches Thyromobile van
THE Thyromobile van of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) was relaunched on February 3, 2023 at the Nutrition Building, Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Taguig City.
Thyromobile was part of nutrition program and a collaborative effort from different sectors and organization such as Iodine Global Network Philippiines (IGN), Philippine Thyroid Association, Rotary Club of University District Manila, Thyroid Federation International, Merck Inc. and Salinas Foods Inc. to fight iodine deficiency disorder in the Philippines.
The program began with the invocation, “Salt of the Earth” prayer, and the song titled “Asin ng Lupa” that was headed by Salinas Foods Inc. team particularly the emcee Gerald Vargas together with Rachelle Oro.
NNC Nutrition Policy and Planning Division officer-in-charge Nutrition Officer 4 Ellen Ruth Abella delivered the message from NNC executive director medical doctor Azucena Dayanghirang.
She was followed by Rotary Club of University District Manila secretary Mark Tan and Henry Wilson, managing director and general manager of Merck Inc. and Biopharma in which they expressed support for the program.
Iodine Global Network country representative and endocrinologist Teofilo San Luis Jr. then presented informative details about the Thyromobile, with Department of Science and Technology Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DoST-FNRI) laboratory supervising science and research specialist Rosemarie Dumag discussing more about iodine in nutrition.
Salinas Foods President Johnny Khonghun delivered the closing remarks.
