SNAP, ISABELA GOVT FIGHT MALNUTRITION
RAMON, Isabela: Renewable energy solutions provider SN Aboitiz Power Magat (SNAP-Magat) has partnered with the provincial government of Isabela to fight malnutrition in the province.
SNAP-Magat said it continues operations and sustainability commitments to help sustain its host communities. “SNAP’s sustainable journey supports Isabela’s fight against malnutrition.”
With this, SNAP-Magat handed more than 9,158 powdered milk packs to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) in Ilagan City, Isabela to support its Busog-Lusog Milk Feeding Program.
Lucila Ambatali, PSWD officer, thanked SNAP-Magat as she received the donation. SNAP-Magat, which has supported the program since it signed a memorandum of agreement with the province in 2021, previously donated 3,240 cans of premium-brand milk to the province.
It said these milk cans were combined with locally produced milk to supplement and provide adequate nutrition to meet the nutritional needs of malnourished children, senior citizens, and pregnant and lactating mothers in the province.
SNAP’s sustainability journey aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs of the United Nations. Collaborative efforts like these lead to achieving good health and well-being or SDG 3.
SNAP-Magat is a joint venture of Scatec, a leading renewable energy solutions provider accelerating access to reliable and affordable clean energy in emerging markets, and Aboitiz Power Corp., the holding company of the Philippines-based Aboitiz Group’s investments in power generation, distribution and retail electricity services.
It owns and operates the Magat hydroelectric power plant which has a nameplate capacity of 360 megawatts (MW) and a maximum capacity of 388 MW on the border of Isabela and Ifugao; and the 8.5-MW Maris hydro in Isabela.
SNAP-Magat also clarified that the non-power components such as dams, reservoirs and spillways are owned, managed and operated by the government.
