‘Cha-cha row could derail public service’
QUEZON, Nueva Ecija: Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go expressed apprehension over the row between the Senate and the House of Representatives over proposals to amend the Constitution, saying it could affect the delivery of basic services to the people.
“For the sake of our people, let’s work together and set aside people’s initiative’s disagreement,” said Go during a press conference.
“Let us protect the Constitution, protect the Senate as an institution, and the interest of the people,” he added, stressing that the divisiveness could also lead to lapses in the implementation of various projects in the localities down to the barangay (villages).
He told reporters that he had “no deals” with politicians who have “hidden motives” in the guise of the people’s initiative.
Go was in this town on February 1 for its 108th founding anniversary and the Patimyas Ani Festival. The senator was invited by Mayor Mariano Cristino “Boyet” Joson and Nueva Ecija 1st District Rep. Angela “Mika” Suansing. The Patimyas Ani Festival was started in 2010.
Go mentioned his campaign slogan “Ang Bisyo ay Margserbisyo sa Kapwa Pilipino” which he said remains his priority.
Joson said in his speech that “Senator Bong Go is the only senator who is always coming back to this town even during the pandemic.’’
Suansing, Joson and the senator led the distribution of P5,000 each to 50 displaced workers who are beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) of the Department of Labor and Employment’s emergency employment program.
Go also attended the blessing of a 2-story legislative building he donated to the town.
Go also went to Cuyapo town accompanied by Mayor Flor Esteban and GP party-list Rep. Jose Padiernos to help more beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
