UST students stream original productions on Facebook
THE 2D production house, spearheaded by third-year students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Communication program, has begun streaming a limited run of two Thomasian-produced shows on UST TigerTV’s Facebook page.
The first show, “The Encounter,” premiered on April 16 and will continue to air on April 23 and 30. This series brings together individuals with contrasting lifestyles for face-to-face discussions and interactions. The topics include public and private transportation, urban and rural realities, and varying views on family dynamics, illustrating how diverse perspectives shape the country’s many realities.
Following “The Encounter,” 2D will launch its variety-reality show, “The Next’ C’,” with episodes dropping on May 7, 14, and 21. This series showcases UST’s top talents in hosting, food reviews, and impromptu interviews. The shows are all part of 2D’s quest to find the next big Thomasian host who embodies charisma, the envisioned next “C” trait following UST’s 3Cs of competence, commitment, and compassion.
Central to these shows are two principles 2D views as the foundations of good storytelling: dynamic and driven. These ideals drive 2D’s efforts in producing shows that feature dynamic and relatable storytelling while advocating for social and character development, which are pertinent to the youth today.
The shows also offer aspiring Thomasian communicators a glimpse into the exciting reality of pursuing Communication at UST. The program is rooted in Sine Reel, a certification in the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance network, and UST’s performance in the annual student Quill awards.
“The Encounter” and “The Next C” serve as partial requirements for the TV Production course currently being undertaken by third-year Communication students.
