Beauty Elements Ventures, Inc. in full bloom

- CHRISTINA ALPAD

BEAUTY Elements Ventures, Inc. (Bevi) — the beauty and skincare company first to introduce the commercial use of kojic acid in the Philippines — couldn’t have chosen a better theme to celebrate its 18th anniversary.

Dubbed “Born to Bloom,” the proudly-Filipino company dressed Marriott’s Grand Ballroom in a wide array of flowers, commemorating the flourishing chapters of its story since 2006.

The main program looked back at the company’s humble beginnings. Its founder Jazz Burila — who then had a buy-and-sell business — started the business by supplying kojic acid soaps to dermatologists for patients with skin pigmentation.

According to healthline.com, kojic acid is made from several different types of fungi and can also be a byproduct of certain fermented foods such as Japanese sake, soy sauce and rice wine.

Still according to the medical site, kojic acid inhibits the formation of tyrosine which is responsible for producing melanin. As such, using this ingredient can have a lightening effect.

With kojic acid soap’s effect seen among patients, Burila went from selling a few to thousands of bar soaps. Realizing its potential, she founded Bevi and focused her attention in reformulating her hero product that became more accessible to the public.

Today the humble kojic soap is known as Kojie.san and from a simple orange bar, the brand now offers full range of products — face and body wash, toner, moisturizer and sunblock, just to name a few — to cater to its growing clientele’s needs.

“It was only a seed of an idea — an idea to challenge myself to create a legacy. I realized that when you put an idea in your heart and mind, it will grow. And that’s how we started Bevi,” Burila said during her speech at the program.

Just as a flourishing tree naturally expands its branches with each passing year, Bevi revealed the progress of its flagship product and the emergence of its new ventures on a memorable night.

Kojie.san introduces Kojie.san +, which takes skincare to new heights of luxury and indulgence. Meanwhile, Life by Kojie.San will enable consumers to experience beauty from within, with its range of liquid food supplements. Further revolutionizing the brand, Diamond Skin by Kojie.San will offer a treasure trove of skincare delights, in the form of a skincare set with potent active ingredients.

Bevi likewise redefines the standard of hygiene with Defensil, a revolutionary line of products that blends advanced protection against germs with a nurturing touch for the skin — a testament to Bevi’s dedication to overall wellness.

Indeed, Bevi continues its pursuit to achieve success beyond beauty, skincare, and wellness.

“Now that the first seed of an idea continuously grows, we expand our roots coming up with new brands in local and in global markets. We are welcoming technological advances and expanding our portfolio as we diversify our company,” Burila said before continued to introduced the latest additions to Bevi’s portfolio.

First is its venture into pet food market via Happy Bites by Top2Tail.

“We are seeing the growth of pet care in the local market. And as pet parents ourselves who only want the best for our furbabies, we felt it was natural to diversify in this category,” Happy Bites Brand Manager Michel Almonte said at the sidelines of the event.

Happy Bites is a line of dog food infused with love, dedication, and passion for pets, guaranteed to delight furry companions at every life stage with wholesome and delicious meals.

Bevi also unveiled the following new ventures:

- BIGi (Basic Integrated Global, Inc.) which provides comprehensive solutions in eCommerce, global distribution expansion, and digital marketing initiatives;

- SPC Microtech that boasts state-ofthe-art analytical and testing laboratories to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficacy in products;

- BEVM (Beauty Elements Ventures Manufacturing, Inc.), and OSP (One Stand Point Manufacturing Corporation), two dynamic forces in manufacturing services; and

- PBB (Philippine Bottling Beverage) that manufactures and tolls bottled products.

With all these and more to come, Bevi promises it will only grow, evolve, and blossom in the future.
