” COMING MONTHS

The fresh-faced 19-year-old has claimed her own spotlight through making music and growing as a musician. Claudia Barretto has all the makings of a pop star—talent, humility, and a voice she wants heard. “I might as well use my platform to my advantage and advocate for something that means a lot to me, like mental health, which people will see a bit more of in the near future,” she mulls. Through the themes of her current songs surround self-empowerment (Finally Found It) and taking back one’s agency (Sinking, Poison), she clearly has set a benchmark for the type of messaging she intends to put out.

She stepped into the industry in 2017 and was welcomed by her fans who have grown to love and appreciate her relatively foreign sound. When asked about the support she has been receiving, she only has grateful words to describe the shift from the traditional. “I am so proud of the growth in music understanding currently happening in our country. People are starting to recognize and respect music more regardless of its genre.” Claudia also knows this is a big transformation for the craft in general. “It is opening up many doors for people who are just too talented to go unnoticed.”

Born with a name that precedes her, Claudia understands the privilege, but is adamant in creating and sharing her own identity. “I am very fortunate to have the support that I do and do not take it for granted. I just hope that I can

give people something more representative of me in the coming months.” Claudia is a gifted artist who wants to earn her laurels through her credibility and talent and not for a name she was born with.” We expect only further authenticity from the young blood.
