BEFORE THE SUN SETS
Even with a cumulative average of so many years in the business of visuals and storytelling (come on, it is rude to get into Jurassic specifics now), it still is admittedly nerve-racking walking up to highly-produced shoots, especially when it calls for a vibrant stretch of sunlight. So, imagine our rising fear when just moments before, we were met a fair amount of rainfall and a gloomy roll of grayed out overcast. But even before the mood was figuratively dampened, the familiar warmth and gleaming glow of the sun poked through the thick clouds and revealed a most beautiful light that made the expanse of green grass glisten with drops of rain.
A lesson in trust and perhaps even by a stretch, of faith, this was a reminder to just go with the flow, considering the sharp curves instead of resisting to it. This is the very credo that actor Ruru Madrid abides by, which is not just for lip service as he weathered through the rest of the shoot in a mix of arm-baring tailoring, which was worn with the classic irreverence of Converse. An interesting juxtaposition of the ends of a spectrum by all means, it also was a case of leaning on modern-day liberties, one that propositions self-actualization and self-love.
Despite chasing the sun with hurried breaths and lengthy strides, we did manage to secure a trove of shots that essayed the story of we wanted to share with this collective undertaking together with Ruru Madrid: That even if seemingly backed up against a wall, the only way to power through is to trust the process, because eventually, the clouds will part into a clearing that will best serve a potential and truth that is just waiting to see the light of day.
