ALFONSO CHUSUEY

Premium Hotel and Resorts

-

The current gem of the pristine Alona Beach stretch in Panglao, Bohol is the sprawling Henann Resort that sprouts ever so majestically from within the serene horizon. Occupying 6.5 hectares of land, it stands to be the biggest development out of the 7 resorts of the Henann Group. But more than the grandeur of the property, the heart and soul of this expanse is the warm and inviting coastal-inspired accommodations that truly make guests feel right at home as they enter the resort’s majestic lobby.

It was a few months leading up to the soft opening of Henann Resort Alona Beach and while Alfonso Chusuey was personable and genuinely into the many social moments, it was clear that there was a lot going on in his head, and it was for good reason, as this development would stand to be his first take-charge project, ensuring that the legacy that his father has built in the hotel and resorts industry would continue on beyond the famed pioneer property in Boracay. As the President and right-hand man of the business that his father, Dr. Henry Chusuey, has built, Alfonso is only so passionate and keen to take to greater, grander heights.

Despite the perpetually game-faced nature of Alfonso Chusuey, there lies within a soft spot for going beyond a build, build, build mindset. He is quick to point out the lengths their resorts take to preserve the natural beauty that they were only so blessed to develop. “Learning to appreciate the natural beauty in the country and to take care of it, has always been a constant realization,” he begins. “We should take care of these tourist spots as we are very lucky to have them. It is our responsibility to take care of them environmentally as tourism generated from these places significantly helps the economy. It is also our moral and social responsibility to do it.”

Despite people thinking that the job he is accorded with is a vacation every day, he shares that while a day is never dull and the same, it certainly keeps him on his toes. “It always changes–new situations, new problems and issues, new innovations–it doesn’t get boring even after all this time,” he says.

As a young visionary himself, Alfonso Chusuey is setting his gaze towards the magnificent horizon before him. “We are looking to really expand the resorts in different places now, the main ones being Coron, Palawan and of course, in Panglao, Bohol. We are constantly studying new innovations to our products, mostly new designs and concepts for the resorts… It’s the main development for the greater experience of our guests.”—ARDC
